Coup d'état l'American….

No this is not a parody on freedom fries and all things anti-French American.

Once my brain stopped rattling today - I came to an epiphany that had long been hibernating in the darkest corners of my mind. It was one of those "ah -hah!" moments that are generally a cause for self-congratulation. But not in this case. My epiphany can be summed up in a simple sentence: Our government is no longer a functioning entity.

Our Government has been hijacked a religious and ideological faction:

Our government no longer functions because it has been hijacked by religious and ideological extremists locked in an unholy alliance with a Machiavellian oligarchy. The power rests with the monied elite in the oligarchy while the tea party extremists are merely tools for business interests. The tea party enables and the oligarchy continues to disable what little is left of our republic.



What we have here is nothing less than a coup d'état. As defined by Wikipedia - a coup d'état "is a sudden extrajudicial deposition of a government, usually by a small group of the existing state establishment…..to replace the deposed government with another body; either civil or military.

The definition continues… A coup d'état succeeds if the usurpers establish their dominance…If the coup neither fully fails nor achieves overall success, the attempted coup d'état is likely to lead to a civil war.

Although this particular coup was far from sudden - it has been 30 years in the making - the rest of the definition is apt. A small radical faction has obtained de facto control over our federal government. That faction is a demonic mix of well-heeled oligarchs and angry radical conservatives. But what of the allusion to civil war - or perhaps a second American Revolution? Is that possible?

Can this war be waged on Twitter and the blogosphere?

I would like to think that this war can be waged with the wit of Jon Stewart and the piercing tongue of a Lewis Black. If it remains a war to be fought on the airways and blogosphere - it will be fought in twitter-speak - small sound bites of easy to swallow catchy phrases. Some great video gone viral would also help. For this, the Dems need a left-wing version of Carl Rove. One thing is certain - going intellectual with the long-winded if accurate explanations of yesteryear will not work.

One thing is certain - this is no longer an argument of partisan politics. We the people have an enemy and that enemy has to be destroyed utterly and completely. That enemy is big business, the new robber barons - which has wrested control of the body politic from the people of the United States. Be warned. They will not go quietly into that good night. If a second American Revolution is what it takes - then ….viva la Revolution.
